Biography
Maria Stella Lo Scerbo was born in Catanzaro, and since early childhood, has lived in Rome. Her connection to both parts of Italy gives her a close bond with her native land. She started painting on porcelain as a hobby in her teenage years with great passion and enthusiasm.
Maria Stella received a degree in Statistical and Actuarial Science with honors, from the University of Rome. However, her academic studies did not divert her interest from creatively working in the field of Art. She was able to successfully reconcile both scientific studies and a love of painting. Upon graduation, Maria Stella decided to pursue her talents as an artist, which then led her to improve various painting techniques. Each of her paintings displays precision, delicacy and elegance which she has cultivated over the years.
Annually, from 1997 to 2002, Maria Stella held solo art exhibitions throughout Calabria, principally in Catanzaro (at the Palazzo Fazzari). Her exhibitions were very successful, and she received significant praise from audiences and critics from television and newspapers. Maria Stella’s works are part of private collections in Italy and abroad, including the United States, Canada, as well as other parts of Europe.
Since 2003, Maria Stella has devoted many hours to teaching and organizing painting classes at her studio in Rome. With dedication, passion and attention to detail, she imparts her technical knowledge to her students, and also instills in them her love of painting.
